Hey look! I found the blog again....
Apologies as work has been very busy and we've been busy looking in to events to run.
Which brings me to:
We are delighted to announce that Vonwar will be running the 40K
Event at the Attack! Wargames Show in Devizes this year. This event
is in its 35th year and is organised by our friends at the DDWG and
runs on the weekend of 19/20 July 2014. Details of the show and the
DDWG can be found here: http://www.ddwg.org.uk/
To ease our way in this year we are offering 2 single day
events:
Old Skool
3 games at 1500 points
Attrition
3 games at descending points 1650-1150-650
We have 30 places available for each event and you are, of
course, quite welcome - nay encouraged - to enter both
Single Events cost £10 and we have a special discount cost of
£16 to enter both events. Entry in to the Show for the day(s) of
your chosen event is included in your ticket price.
Pack can be grabbed via email vonwar7@gmail.com

MAD3 Tickets Disappearing quickly
We've had a quick tour of the TARDIS
and can confirm that one of the space stabilisers is on the blink:
we have 40 spaces available and not
the previously mentioned 80 - that was a bit of a mix up as the
person was trying to organise a CCG event at the same time.
Anyway - we have 40 lovely tickets for this event and, erm, 29 have gone already.
Better get in quick!!!

MAD3 is a GO!!
Good evening everyone.
We are delighted to inform you that MAD3 will be going ahead as planned on Saturday 5th October 2013.
And we will also be trying out a new venue at The Games Shop in Aldershot. This particular venue can hold up to 80 gamers across 3 floors! I know - impressive numbers.
We've also managed to lower the ticket price for this event to £10 which whilst it does not include lunch does, I'm sure you'll agree, offer excellent value for money for a full day of 40K gaming!
As we move in to 2014 we have plans to go a little bit nomadic as we have a few different venue possibilities around the M3/M4 corridor: namely Cardiff, Bristol, Calne, Bath and the aforementioned Aldershot. Each offers a different size location so we should be able to have nice cosy affairs and large smash n grab affairs throughout the year.
There's a good possibility of more than 4 events in a year from VonWar as we move forward but let's not count our Helchickens just yet eh? Let's get MAD3 up and running first and then see what the future holds.
We're back! More excited than ever to run these events for everyone and we thank you all for your patience whilst we get ourselves sorted out.
Look for information on MAD3 ticket sales later tonight!

Coming Soon
Getting excited now!
After lots of work behind the scenes expect a positive announcement within the next few days regarding MAD 3.
And we are hard at work negotiating our way forward for 2014 at the same time.
We're not dead yet: in fact I might have finally made a leadership test when called on!

VonWar Update 2013
As the majority of you will most likely be
aware Triple Helix has closed their Gaming Hall with immediate
effect. They have a statement detailing the reasons behind this
on their website so by all means have a gander.
One of the major factors that contributed to
our starting up the VonWar events was having a ready made venue
with tables and scenery all in one place. As we’re not a club we
have no regular income that allows us to purchase tables, boards
and scenery of our own (let alone store it) so the one stop shop
was ideal. At the same time as the above my personal time has
been hugely impacted by an increase in work responsibilities and
travel plus fun and games with family.
With the loss of the venue we have to take
stock and our first decision is what to do with the already
planned events for 2013. We have decided that Vonpocalypso
on April 20th will be our final event to be held in
conjunction with Triple Helix. It is scheduled to be held at the
Triple Helix premises and should we hear differently we will of
course be in touch with the entrants.
Attrition 2013 scheduled for July
has been cancelled.
So you’re now expecting me to say that this
is the end for VonWar right? I certainly hope not as I really
enjoy putting these events together. It is however the
realisation that a single event a year is probably the way
forward in the short-term with a longer-term plan to review what
we want to do once the dust settles.
We have a possible venue in Calne
that we’re investigating and our aim is to see about running MAD
2013 out of that venue towards the end of this year
(October/November). Ongoing we’ll see but continue to watch this
space as we progress any plans.
I want to thank each and every one of you for
coming along and supporting VonWar during the last couple of
years: it is very much appreciated and our events are made by
you.
See you all at Vonpocalypso and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for VonWar.

Yes our final 2 single day 40K events for 2012 now have confirmed dates!

Magnificent 7 Rides Off
Well what a day that was!
We ended up entering 154 results into the spreadsheet of doom and I'm sure at one point it started smoking... A cracking day that everyone seemed to enjoy: slightly knackered looking players at the end of it mind you and I was heading for a lynching when I announced that we were going for game 8 :-)
Thank you to everyone for making it a truly memorable day. Photos will be up on the Mag7 page sometime this week just as soon as real life lets me.
Results for the Day:
Champion: Rob Uter (Space Wolves)
Runner Up: Mike Reynolds (Orks)
Third: Paul Reekie (Dark Eldar)
Best Army: Darren Ivey (Necrons)
Most Sporting: Nik Doran (Imperial Guard)
Wooden Spoon: Clinton Jenkin (Daemons) - yes my son did me proud!!
Now we move our attention to the next event in April. From the sublime (600 points) to the mad (2300 points).

Magnificent 7 Almost here
Yes it has been a while. Life has a way of getting in the way of gaming which is just not on!
Anyway - preparations are well underway for the day and army lists have started rolling in: about half in so far and all but 5 of the Codex are currently in attendance.
So far no Templars, Tau, Sisters, Dark Angels or Daemons. Oddly very similar to what happened at MAD so no real surprises. On the other hand we still have 20+ lists to come in so perhaps those under-represented armies are out there and waiting...
This time I am going to take my camera. Promise :-)

Magnificent 7 Ride
Once Upon a Time in Wiltshire...
Our next event now has a confirmed date: Saturday 28 January 2012.
This is our 1 day, 600 point, 7 game bonanza (yes I'm trying for Western tie-ins here). Each game will be a shoot-out with your opponent and the quickest on the draw is likely to win.
I'll stop now.
Tickets will be available from 5th November and are priced at £13 for the day including lunch. Rules Pack will be uploaded on the 5th as well assuming no spelling mistakes are found...
We've worked it out so that you get 55 minutes per game and 20 minutes rest in between. Going to be a very busy day. You'll need a Fistful of Dice. So if you've always fancied starting a new army and starting small then this is the event for you. Come on over to Wiltshire and join our Posse.
Oh dear. Sorry.

MAD has been...and gone!
And what a day it was too.
We started off with 60 doughnuts and finished it with 4: a superb result I think you'll agree. Oh the Event? Ah yes now that was a cracker.
It's at this point that I have to admit to taking my camera and then completely forgetting to take it out of the bag once I got caught up in the day. I know some cameras were in attendance so will try to track down some shots.
The hall looked splendid with 20 tables and 40 players all raring to go once Steve from Triple had carried out his safety briefing. We had representatives from most of the Codex although notable by their abscence were Black Templars, Daemons, Tau and Sisters. Maybe next time eh?
Everyone played in a superbly relaxed manner and we only had a few genuine rules queries to contend with all day. A special thanks to all the players for the manner in which they approached this non-rankings (there's an argument for another day) event.
So the results?
Winner: Kevin Sharpes (Grey Knights)
Runner-Up: Steve Pearce (Chaos Marines)
Third: Simon Priddis (Orks)
Best Army: Darren Ivey (Tyranids)
Most Sporting: Andy Barnett (Imperial Guard)
Thanks to Charlotte for the chilli, for everyone at Triple for their hospitality and for the event team for their invaluable help setting up and running the event. Nicely done everyone.
On to the next one :-)

Ticket Available for MAD!
As always player movement is fluid for events and we have a ticket going spare for MAD on 22nd October.
3 games. 1800 points. 40K. No Triple Spamming of units.
If you want the ticket then please contact me immediately on vonjenk@ntlworld.com
Elsewhere preparations are pretty much done. Army Lists are streaming in now and all looking very nice: be good to see some of the rarer units like Flash Gitz, Penal Legion and Rough Riders. All getting very exciting now with only a week and half to go...
